That was my first thought too. However, the neck on that Lakland is SO different from the Fender that I think it's entirely possible -- indeed, likely -- that OP will love the Lakland despite not bonding with the Fender. I'd sell the Fender and get the Lakland.

I gig. My basses are my tools. Reputation, fame, collectibility, originality, etc., are never an issue. If the tool gets the gig done, great. If not, it is out the door.

I would go for the Lakland, my Bob Glaub was love at first "thud"! Mine has the wider nut, I absolutely love this bass!
I ended up putting the pup cover back on...

I feel the 70s Pbasses are at something of a peak lately so IMO its a good time to sell one even if you don't need the money. Love my Lakland and could love another as well. The one question is whether you'll play any Pbass. If you feel bonded with the Jazz and that's why Precision didn't work out then I wouldn't bother with another P. If you're trying to bond with a Precision the modern neck width of the 4464 would be easier to play than the 1.75 nut width of the 77 Precision you have now. Then there's the Duck Dunn style Pbass with a Jazz neck for those who like the tone of the P, but want the playability of the Jazz. That's how I got my USA Peavey Fury after folks here on Talkbass gave them such a high recommendation for tone, playability and craftsmanship I was super happy to sell my Fender P and play the Fury. And the USA Fury basses are super under-priced IMO(mine was 250 and I almost felt guilty) YMMV Good luck!

Here are the photos. Some of them are from previous seller (I got it here from a fellow TBer) and some are from the shop I had the bass services at. I played it some but could not connect with it. Did clean and set it up with TI flats but still could not bond with it.

Well I would say, how about just giving it to me (and then tell tax man it was a donation and write it off) lol!
Actually if there is another bass that you really wanted, then I would sell it and buy what you like.
Technically none of your choices are wrong, it is just what results will YOU be happy with in the long run?

I'm in the sell it camp. If you're just not connecting with the bass, whats the point. Yeah, I know....vintage Fender and all, but bottom line it's just another Fender P bass. I say this as an owner of a '60 Jazz bass. I still have it, but only for sentimental reasons.(that and my son is a musician, he will inherit when I go) It rarely gets played. I moved on to shorter scale 5 strings for ease of play due to a left hand issue. No regrets at all.

So I say get that Lakland that is calling your name, and enjoy.

If you don't need the money I say keep it. You may bond with it in the future (it happens), and if not it'll only be worth more as the years pass.

For whatever reason I've sold every 5 string I've owned to buy another, and I only have one 5 string at any time. I miss owning all of them except one or two.

Original case is included but one of the locks is not closing. Certainly the photos can certify the age of neck, pickups and pots. Not sure what do you mean by "something" to certify the age?

No problem on listing it at TB. Let me know.

It looks to be in great condition, but I really don't like black PG on a burst, but I wouldn't change it.
