Should I make these mixed up Warmoths whole again?

I picked up these lovely Warmoths many years back. All the components on both are top notch.
The P is ash, and the J is ash with a maple top (I think).
It's finally time to set them up (believe it or not the necks hardly moved for the first decade on either of them).
There is one odd mismatched thing about the pair.

The P-Bass body has a purple-heart Jazz neck while the Jazz body has the fattest Precision neck I have ever played.

The original owner told me there was a good reason for the switch up but I can't remember exactly what his reasoning was.

I know Precisions and Jazzes can be switched and combined in all kinds of hideous and heinous arrangements.

Neither bass is getting a lot of love at this exact moment in time.
My question to you good people of TalkBass is should I make these basses whole so that Precision neck goes with the Precision body and likewise with the Jazz components.

I don't think there is, or care if there is a right or wrong way. But in this example I like the J body and the purpleheart neck and would sell the rest.

And then get a proper pickguard

The good reason might be a neck heavy bass....or you might need some shims to get the necks just right
Or each bass might end up overly heavy
Some of my guesses....
Take them apart...try them....and find out for yourself

Sounds like the original owner tried them the other way first and for what ever reason decided this way worked better. They’ve been coupled in matrimony for a good while successfully, I’d say let em be. I know it’s not a big issue taking boltons back and forth apart but when everything’s working well , don’t mess with it.

That said I normally prefer wider necks on p basses and narrower on j basses but I’m good either way.

Either way, you are going to have two basses with two different width necks. If you like how they feel now, why change it? If you don't, why not?

I've been playing the same Jazz with the same P neck since about 1984.
