I've had a blistering scientific breakthrough, first-hand experience (sorry) - and paying attention, this time
I'd got a little carried away, playing along to jamiroquai's dynamite - fantastic disk if you crave a little funk-fueled five-string melodic madness. Playing with thumb and index finger - something I'm settling right into though still lateral to my usual attack which is just my first three fingers. After the gig, sure 'nough, there she blows: a goodly ugly elliptical bumpity bump, already swimming in plasma.
Don't you hate that! Never mind, I said to myself, still buzzing like a bellicose bell-tower. I put down the weapon and picked up a tele and proceeded to play through four fifths of MAX: THE GREATEST NO.1 COUNTRY ROCK ALBUM. Check this set list - Ooo Mama
Well. That did it. My thumb was a disaster-zone and my pointer was, at this stage, also showing signs of fallout.
When I'm using a pick, I use a very small [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] exclusively, no matter what I'm playing and there's lots of thumb involved if ever I dig in. And I was chicken-pickin' diggin' in
- also something new for me. New chops Twang-a-lang. Dang! And I'm diggin' it, I'll give you the mail
I've never slapped a bass beyond a momentary lapse of weasin' - every now and then - though I know I should. All in good time
In the here-and-now there was nothing for me but the bench. I'd made a proper meal of my poor sore paws.
Anyway, I stumbled upon a serious fix to share. Ideal because everything's still intact and pollution-free. All I did this time was leave the little watery wounds alone. No broken skin, no pricking, no draining, no band-aids or bandaging. All I did was bathe them in a little neat tea tree oil a couple of times and sleep on it. I do this always with my tips too, whenever I've overextended
Within twenty-four hours, no trace of the plasma remains and the skin has reconnected completely to become the foundation of my newest leathery lobe. The thumb's in the game, while the index finger gets mad and does the hulk. So now, pain and pollution-free, Here. We. GO!
