Should I remove a pickgaurd in my bass?

im getting a standard fender very soon in blue I was wondering if I could take of the pickguard I play with my fingers so I don't see a point in having it there so I want to remove it. Should I do this, will it affect anything.

Soundwise, it won't change a thing. Lookswise is a whole different story.. Depending on the bass, this is what a lot of P basses look like without pickguards. So you'll see a lot of the control cavity. What exactly are you getting?
