Jacques SG-2 Singing Geisha

3- THE SINGING FUNCTION
The Singing function of the Geisha is a musical instrument per se.
This means that it is totally independent and that you don't even need a guitar to play it. The Singing Geisha is an analog monophonic synthesizer which notes are determined by the position of the rocker pedal. You reach the highest note when depressed and the lowest when in back position. The frequencies range from 82,4Hz-(E) to 1319Hz-(e3), e3 being the highest possible note. We chose E ( mi in French) as extremes because this note naturally goes with standard guitar tuning, making jamming along with the Geisha a breeze.
But the upper range can be set , thanks to the sing range pot, from 329,6Hz-(e1) to 1319Hz-(e3) and any note between.

Micro tonal notes can also be hit as the analog nature of the geisha makes that there always is a note between 2 notes ---until the Planck length but this is another story---.

A short range makes it easy to play melodies as a long range will gives more portamento impressions , great to highlight a guitar solo.
The Singing function in itself will gives hours of musical fun, and, while serious training is needed to play simultaneously one melody on the Geisha and its counterpoint on the guitar, it is an easy player from day one, thanks to its ultra-precise opto-electronic mechanism.

Of course , the Singing volume is adjustable in order to mix it with your guitar to your taste.

Well I already have the feedback loop going on that I can control the volume of but its a different sound to what I can get with just the pedals and I like having both.

I'm not really sold on Copilot stuff I had the Antenna and thought it was terrible but that was before the new bass mod for it, but you do make a good point for the Robot Factory and Android together if it just goes crazy and blips all over the place like a programmable sequence that would take care of my needs I think other than changing the sequence mid song.

The Roger Linn Adrenelinn always springs to mind with its various controls and slicer feature but its not really the way I want to go but it does have all the syncable features to work with a drummer

The Antenna is weak, because analog decimators are just kind of a silly idea. The Android is just a really solid simple ring-mod, though. I mean, I've never owned one, but I played one and was like, "huh. that's ring mod, alright."

Oh, I get you that the synth and the floop are two seperate flavors and you want both, but I'm saying that I think you're not exploring the floop idea enough. You can make wild and drastic changes simply and easily in a floop just by turning pedals on/off, and you can do that rhythmically without special tap tempo or midi or anything. That's why floops are so much fun. To me.

Thinking about it a Toggle would allow the oscilation to switch between 2 modulators there for giving a more rythmic sound that could be both triggered by a drummer or just tap tempo'd

To quote myself and since I'm bored at work I've been thinking about this

If I keep everything the same as what it is now so as not to get bogged down with new pedals :D

My noise chain could go

Mobius(Loopm) V8 -
Toggle
(Loop A) Fembot (/Loop A)
(Loop B) Gurgle and Moan (/Loop B)
(/Loopm)
into Prometheus into Noisebox into Echobox

Now it seems a waste to get a toggle just to switch between 2 pedals but just those 2 would rythmically switch the oscilation between freqency modulation and filter which then running into the Prometheus for further filtering or S&H gurgling away.

What I'm trying to figure out is if there is a way to set the toggle up in my chain so I can patch different chains into the fx loops so that I can use the dynamic switching.

The more ideas I kick around the more pedals I think I could get built to maximise my board for example

A/B/Y box in the enclosure Toasted uses for his Igor Buffer but with a 3 position toggle switch so that I can patch in a Dwarfcraft Double Thumping Snake on my noise side and just have that oscilating, or have my signal passing though the pedals with it or just have my signal passing through the pedals.

4 Feedback loops in one box that is hardwired for the loops to be open and footswitches to turn each loop into a feedback loop so:
(Loop1) V8
Box (Loop2) Fembot
(Loop3) Gurgle and Moan

The box would have 8 jacks 1 In, 1 Out, 3 sends, 3 returns, 3 led's and 3 stomp switches. Wire the loops so when the led is off the loop is normal and you use the pedal as normal in your chain, click the button for that loop on the feedback box and just that pedal gets hit with the feedback loop. This changes my current system of 4 pedals in one feedback loop and everything getting hit with it.

I was also thinking a passive mixer on the input of my pedalboard meaning I could run more than one instrument into the board at a time might be cool?

So now I'm torn between a toggle which while having lots of options is just going to be maybe 2 pedals per loop and none of the dynamics will come into my normal playing it will always be tap tempo'd or trigger.

The other option is the WMD Geiger Counter which just looks like it has a million controls for destroying your signal and use the key in to trigger it but I don't know how rythmic this is going to sound and it's going to do nothing stand alone unlike the toggle where I could just tap in a beat and with the oscilation and modulation it makes a simple analog synth drum machine/sequencer.

Or maybe I should just buy a Korg Electribe to play alone to :p

I don't think this is a good idea. Have you heard these pedals in consecutive floops by themselves? Or just each one in a floop by itself? You might change your mind.

It's my experience that one big floop with lots of peds in it is better than several small floops, because you get more different sounds. Some pedals might not do anything at all in floops (especially passive ones) by themselves.

So the combination of things say 3 pedals feedbacking into each other makes it sound different to 3 floops with a pedal in each. Makes sense I didn't think of it like that I figured all 3 in a single loop would sound the same as 3 loops all on which would mean any on/off combination would create new sounds you can't get in a single loop.

Oh well one idea down :p plenty more to go :D

So to bump this up I'm thinking the Geiger counter might be the answer to my prayers and if I get rid of the Gurgle and Moan which I only use for changing the shape and sound of noise I can probably fit it on.

Maybe get a peep for exp control but the Geiger is CV so not sure if this is possible, finding space for the Sinister Analog Ultra Lord will be much harder, I am seriously thinking of just chucking the CPD, Huckv2, Barge and maybe the Octron 2 on the PT mini which is pretty much a fun with tube amps board anyway. I may leave the Octron on the big board but put it on one side of a loop as it seems to be better on my groove side than the noise side.

The PT mini does fit infront of a PT pro no problems like a sub layer.
