Right-handed. That way she can play 99% of the basses in the world, instead of needing a rare lefty bass.

I never understood why right handers play guitars with their left hands on the fretboard. Besides tradition.

Usually, the idea of being right handed, is that your right hand is more articulate, and your left hand more stable. Shouldn't right handers be playing lefties?
