Should i trade?

I'd try and take the trade. I prefer the sound of a Fender Jazz better than any Hohner I've ever heard. Fender also has a better name, so if you decide to sell it to upgrade you'll more than likely get more for it than you would a Hohner.

Play several jazz basses. If you find one that really moves you then trade. If you don't then keep the Hohner.

Try looking into other brands too. You might find something else you like better than either bass.

Lakland 55-01's are very well built basses, have comfortable necks, and good tone for basses in the price range of what your Hohner would sell for. Maybe a shade higher if you buy new.
