Who am I to say, but if they are coming up with new stuff - or even rehashing the hits - why not keep touring. Geddy needs to take care of his voice. They do some stuff a step down. The usual "we're getting older" stuff. That's fine. I just hope like I do for any band or any "famous" person (actors, athletes, etc) that they call it quits on their own terms and at an appropriate time.

Should Rush hang it up?

They are still a better show than most of the bands half their age. Most singers struggle with their voice at the end of tours. They were better than ever when I saw them a few years ago. When they finally decide to hang it up it will be a sad day. We won't see the likes of them ever again.
Rush was so diverse throughout their career that having to rehash the same premise as you put it has never really been an issue. Neil is about as diverse as it gets and his lyrics reflect that. The band has been everything from a heavy guitar driven trio to a synth driven prog pop group. They even incorporated a little rap into Roll the bones.
I hope they don't throw it in yet as I haven't seen them live! Now I'm finally able to travel to see them (they'll never get close to where I live) and I've vowed on the next tour that I'll go see them.
I have seen Rush 25+ times since 1982. Geddy's voice has changed, just as most singers voices change with age. It is painful for me to listen to him try to sing alot of their older songs. I don't think they should hang it up though. I feel he can still sing well within his changed range. Rush is too talented to quit now. I hope they have more to share.
Saw them last year, he sounded great. You try doing what those three are doing for 3 hours when you're 60! True, Geddy and Alex talk about Neil having to ice down his wrists after show, but what do you expect?!

Arthritis is the reason I stopped playing in 1995. Started again in 2009 but really started playing a lot in the last 2 years. I mean a lot, at least 2-3 hours a day, and my hand strength has improved heaps to the point that arthritis isn't anywhere near as bad. For instance,Red Barchetta killed my hands six months ago. I'd cramp halfway through. Now I can play it 4 times in a row without cramping.Playing a lot of FIFA on the PS3 helped too, go figure hehe, arthritis improves with age, who woulda thought?
