Should We Save Homo Sapiens?

Considering that almost all of the people interviewed mentioned "Homo Sapiens" themselves in the context of a species to be saved, I think they were asked the question.
There are a lot of these videos on Kimmel that I think are doctored. This is just the most recent one. Some times they'll get good stuff authentically. Like I said, people are stupid.

How many people do they have to ask to find a few funny idiots? It is a comedy bit after all, there's not going to be a scientific analysis. My question is are they required to gain consent after you bomb the question, or is it enough to say "I'm from Kimmel" and if you talk back it's fair game?

These are heavily edited or selective...it's meant for entertainment and comedy purposes of the show. I am sure some of the people are legit dumb...however I feel a lot of this is put on.

See, this is the problem. People really don't believe that there are other people in the world that are this stupid. We think we can deal with stuff because, overall, we're smart. But, really, we're not, but we're really good at denial.

Sure, the video is funny.

But the notion as a whole is utterly ridiculous. We have allowed people to go so far down the dumbest paths without pointing and laughing at them. This has allowed them to take themselves seriously.

There are literally groups of people who think humans are a disease. They think the planet would be better off without us. They think they are "enlightened" or even (eyes rolling) "woke".

They aren't. They're just stupid. Without humans, there wouldn't be much of a POINT to this planet. Without conciousness, what's the point? Dogs don't know they're dogs. Plants are only here to produce oxygen and nutrients for animals (us included).

Of all the ridiculous notions floated in the last couple decades, this one annoys me the most.

(Grumble grumble.... bunch uh stupid.....)

This is basically the same thing as the old Rick Mercer "talking to Americans" special. He basically did the same thing where he'd go to various cities in the US and solicit responses from people about some made up stuff about Canada - got some high profile people to say some pretty dumb things too. "Congratulations Canada on getting your first woody!" "Congratulations Canada on legalizing the VCR!" The list goes on.

I'm willing to wager that what probably happened was a bunch of people were asked a question on camera with a microphone on their face, and in an effort to not seem either stupid or rude end up just saying some kind of trite nonsense in order to just get whoever it is out of their face so they can carry on with their day. In the process of doing so, they end up saying some pretty entertaining dumb crap. I'm willing to bet that they're no dumber than most of us, they're just caught off guard and being forced to speak outside of their wheelhouse.

At any rate, I find it hard thinking whether we're worth saving or not. We've got this habit of erecting empires and subjugating others into coercive systems for personal gain that are justified by mentalities of either exceptionalism or manifest destiny; in the same vein, however, we also do some pretty heroic and altruistic stuff too. At any rate it's not a question with a simple answer.
