I think it's a pitty that the Elan isn't in the "regular" Alembic line anymore.... (of course still available as a custom)
The horns are a bit wider than those of the Europa and I think the headstock (the original Elan inline headstock) looks much meaner than the headstock of the Europa.

IMHO of course ;)

My Alembic Europa. Love the bass. Hoping to set it up e-c but have been waiting and trying for 18 months for Alembic to send a new locking screw for the nut!! Hopefully will get it soon. Great bass.
Nice bass.
I've found then very responsive and helpful with parts issues like yours. Ring them. I know it's a bit exxy from Oz, but you'll get a great response as I have every time I've rung especially when I've spoken with Susan.
Alternatively try David at Greensquare.

Have called Alembic in the U.S. as well as Greensquare and emailed Alembic 10+ times. Looks like it is finally getting sorted. (??) Everyone there has been nice enough, I just haven't got the part yet, which has been really frustrating. There was problems with my first contact leaving the company but since then it has just been swept under the carpet a few times, much to my dislike. Anyway didn't want to hijack this thread with a whinge. Am looking forward to resetting up this fantastic instrument soon, and will have a whinge soon if it doesn't happen.
Cheers.

OK, here it is at long last -- the bass on the right is my new baby, a koa '82 Series 2, and the bass on the left is the graphite neck koa '82 Series 2 I lucked into two years ago.

Awesome pair.

Both of those basses are just perfect-I'd love to play them sometime.

Here's the Series I I should be acquiring soon, if all goes well:

Whats that tasty looking beast far left ?

Nice ;)

It's a custom made by Jake Marchlewski, Pensacola Florida area

It was designed by another TBer, Wolfehollow. In the picture below, Jake is on the left, Wolfehollow on the right, holding the 1st of several basses Jake has made for him. This 4 string fretless is the one that my bass is copied from.

There are a couple threads where Wolfehollow tracks the build of the 4 string fretless, as well as a couple other basses Jake built for him. Do a search on "Marchlewski" or "Birth of a bass".

EDIT....Here's the link to the 1st thread http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85815&highlight=marchlewski

As for construction, my bass is neck through with Maple core, Amboyna Burl top and back, Birdseye Maple / Bloodwood 5 piece neck, 34" scale Birdseye Maple fingerboard and pickguard, adjustble nut, Amboyna Burl knobs.

Peace,

James
