Show me your Alembics

Haven't got a chance to properly photograph it. I finally got an Alembic.

95(?) Epic. I love the feel and sound. The sound is just so different from my other instruments.

That one's a beauty. I was watching it closely - if not for a couple of extra expenses, I'd have bid. You got it for a good price. Most Epics don't have such pretty tops. Hope it sounds great. Good luck. :D

Damn. That Walnut-maple-purpleheart-mahogany sandwich looks better on an Alembic than any other bass...
Seeing it on an Orion also goes to show that people have enough regard for Alembic's less astronomically-priced models to add really cool custom touches. Beautiful bass. :p

took some photos of my (new to me) Epic. The purchase was a pure spur of the moment thing; one that i feared I'd regret.

My Alembic affection goes to my late 70's Fleetwood Mac fan days. In recent years I got the feeling that Alembics were no longer relevant (kind of a Rolls Royce...beautiful craftsmanship but irrelevant to modern life).

I'm amazed by the versatility of this bass' sound. Its going into active service.

And in celebration of the Rick Turner+Alembic connection:

Oh man, that looks amazing with those strings on it! What are they?
Those are Optima Gold regular lights. Great stuff! :hyper:

Thanks! :)

FYI: the body sandwich isn't a custom option, but standard for the Orion since a year or two. But this instrument has some real custom features, the oval inlays, a crown headstock and (very rare on a set neck model) purpleheart neck laminates. Standard strings in these pics...

I'm thinking about swapping the bass and treble controls for a filter and q-switch. Would make it my ultimate best-of-both-worlds Alembic!

I didn't realize the maple accent lam was standard. It sets the other woods off beautifully, because it doesn't have any red hues. The way the side grain on mahogany turns red in a sandwich like that is really pretty. I like the headstock and neck laminates, too. That's a very nice looking bass (even among Alembics).

(Gotta get another Alembic, gotta get another Alembic...)
