Show me your Alembics

I'm not sure I could handle a Series I- My Rogue has Signature electronics (along with the Bass-Treble quick change switches) and I find that I am constantly tweaking tone- I'd drive myself crazy with a Series bass. :help:

How's that graphite sound?

To be honest I really wish I had more direct control over bass and mids. The filters are great to pinpointing specific frequencies but I'd love to have one more on each pickup and with less preamp gain overall but but more boost/cut per filter :)

It would be knob-tastic!

Compared to a wood necked Series 1 I'd say there's more sub-lows and upper mid range. (Same comparison between my MM Stingray and Cutlass basses too.)

I love hooking the Series 1 up to my old 70's Burman valve heads and doing Led Zep or ELP tracks. A heeeeeeyooooooooooj sound comes out! Its like being beaten up by your eardrums.

I used to own on almost identical apart from it having a cocobolo top. I sold it last year.

It was the heaviest bass I've ever played and had a really dark sound. Great for metal or hard rock as the sound was thunderous. But I'm not a metal or hard rock player :)

This is the one I now own, bought c/- Spirit of the West bass player Hugh in Canada. A graphite necked 79 Series 1. Its got loads of mojo and has an awesome neck and fret job. I love it! Just wish I knew more about who owned it before Hugh.

Sweet basses. I'd love one of the carbon necked Alembics to add to my collection. Eventually.....

Im not sure if you know this or not ....
You can post the serial number over at the Alembic Forum and someone will give you all the details on file about that specific bass.

Hi Tom, yes I knew that and all they can tell me is what spec the bass is. Apparently they don't have a lot of info on the earlier basses. I think its a few serial numbers off Greg Lake's 8 string Scoprion.

Definitely an exclusive bass. Only one of 50 supposedly made.

Beautiful quilt/birdseye maple- I love that headstock- the only thing I'd change about my Rogue would be to go from the cone peghead to the europa or Elan peghead.

Beautiful bass~ you comin' up for air yet?

Yeah the top is amazing. I dig the headstock too. Gives it a nice character. I'm not a big fan of the cone either. The Europa/Orion heads do look good on the Rogues too.

Yeah takin quick little breaths here and there. This thing is such a blast to play!

The neck was too wide for me. It would be nice in a 4 though. Sold it to get this one:

With the filter turned up all the way, it is very bright and twangy.
The Spoiler electonics are simple, but can do a groggy midrange tone,
or if the filter is rolled all the way down a boomy vintage sound. I
use thin strings, and it doesn't have a ton of bass, it could sound
thin through some amps without adding some bass at the amp's EQ,
though I usually run my amps close to "flat." With a tube amp is really
comes to life, very aggressive, snarling tone. The only recording I
have is a short song intro clip, the bass doesn't do much until the very
end.
