This is a compact board I put together for a show i had for a duo project (acoustic guitar and me on bass). I basically kept everything on and it was a fat and warm tone, kinda Motown-y that worked really well in the context but nothing super sexy about it.
you kidding? that is really sexy, I miss my ValveDrive and bet it sounds great into the qstrip!
Heh. It did sound great. I guess I mean sexy as in no super weird or rare pedals.... Slap my Bitquest and Dizzy Tone in there and things get hella sexy....but totally inappropriate for what I was using it for.
Here’s the recent recreation of my pedal board. It has all I need for whatever I play right now. And my main focus was that it will fit in my carry-on luggage as I do mostly fly dates
I haven't posted in a while, but I recently went through the "I'm not making any more changes to my band/gig board" and um... yeah more changes. I'm also a bigger fan of EHX than I realized!!!!
Yeah, I'm going through that. My current board is 18x12, which I'm not sure if that qualifies as compact anymore. Then I got to thinking what if I went just one more size up to 24x16? I haven't done it yet because I told myself that I wouldn't go any larger and to just switch out pedals when I needed it. I've bought, sold, and traded more pedals in the last 6 months than I have in 20 years of playing. There's sooo many good ones out there now that I've been going a little nuts.
I'm right with you, there are soo many cool gadgets out there that it's really hard to stop. I recently got rid of 10 pedals, and it didn't make a dent (also didn't help that I picked up 5 more in the process). Ah well, at least it's a harmless hobby (assuming you can still feed/cloth/house you and yours).
I bought a Quad used, but still in the box for $70! Took 2 of the foot switches off the board, mounted them on my pedalboard and mounted the controller underneath. Seems to be working fine!
Looks nice. What case is that – and do you play with the lid open like that or are the pedals mounted to something?
The Duo would definitely work.
This looks like a great unit, but a tad bit more expensive than the Duo.

That's a metro 20, I was packing up for practice and took a quick pic... it comes out of the case for use.
I read this and thought “20 YEARS!!! What an old timer!”. Then I realized I have been playing for 15 years and went back to my pedals.
Hahaha! Old timer...oh man. I've been playing since I was 13. You can do the math
The only pedal that got used extensively for many years was my SansAmp BDDI v1, which I have now pretty much retired. Otherwise I was always straight to the amp and had a tuner floating around. We have so many options now for effects, preamps, etc that there was no way I was going to just sit back and not dive into the fun!
