Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Redid my board tonight on Instagram live! Got everything wired up and I can power everything with two cords. I’ll be getting an IEC splitter soon so I only have to plug into one outlet.

If you can, give me a follow at @invrsns where I’ve been posting my journey finding my tone!
The Dynamic Duo: Oracle and LA-1A.

Question for you: If you could only play through an interface, what would be best option to add colour and tube warmth? The LA-1A or the Oracle?

Thanks.

If I could only pick one, I’d have to say the LA-1a is the way to go. I’m definitely a compressor guy though. I like the subtlety of the effect and to me that would be a great sound solo. I recently did a podcast talking about the Oracle being my desert island piece of gear, but that was before I got the LA-1a. It is not the LA-1a. Won’t go anywhere without it.

Not sure it’s that compact anymore... latest update with my new Keeley comp.

Hey I really enjoyed your Instagram post. Thanks for doing that.

I may have missed it, but, what are you using your Stomp for in this set up? Seems like you have compressor/"amp"/overdrive/Delay/Reverb covered with your regular pedals

So I’m basically running a clean and a dirty signal chain. I have the compressor, Pandamonium and Oracle are my clean chain. I plan on running output number 2 to a DI. Then my dirty chain are all the previous pedals plus the prelude and hx stomp. I’m running EQ, Gate, and I’m running the Ampeg SVT4 model on there. Just gives me variety if I either want to run two signals to FOH or just one.

Sounds cool! Hey would you mind doing a demo of the Prelude on bass?

Sure! I’m planning on getting more into demos and stuff soon! I have a company (chrisray_premiumfxpedals) who’s sending me some stuff next week to demo! A bass fuzz and compressor. Super pumped about these! But the prelude is definitely on that list to demo. Not sure if anyone has a video of running bass through it.

What is your podcast?

So while not really a Compact board, it is nevertheless my board, and, I am planning to cannibalize it to build a compact board.

I thought the new RFE would render the Messenger redundant as I mainly use it for HPF/LPF, but in practice turns out not to be the case, they are very different and I still want the HPF the Messenger has to offer. Bummer as I was hoping to free up the Messenger real estate. (A Studio One would fix that but won't happen any time soon if ever).

So next steps are getting a Nano Max or Nano + (or another brand of similar size) and downsizeg from this board. This smaller board would have, and probably in this order:
  • TC Tuner
  • Compressor (currently Keely, to replace with a Smoothie, Cali76 CB, Diamond, Lightning Boy Op-2, or other warmth Comp)
  • Boss OC-2 Octaver
  • Broughton Super Stack
  • Maybe, a Boss RV-3 Reverb / Delay
  • An ABY Switch to route around the Boss pedal(s)
  • Broughton RFE and/or Broughton Messenger
  • Olympic MKIIIS
The Shift Line I believe requires its own power supply, so other than that, am wondering if a CIOKS4 would power this board adequately. The Super Stack and RFE can run at 9v but need at least 250mA power.

I agree with you. I thought the RFE and Filter FX Loop would be redundant. They are not!

I recommend a Cioks DC7. You might be able to get by with the 4 but it will be close. Especially, if any of your pedals don't like to be daisy chained.

That top row would fit a lot better if you sold me your RFE.
