Show me your compact pedalboard setup

To answer your question: yes. The Element only sends the processed, cabsim signal out of the headphone and XLR jacks if you're using it in a pedal chain between your instrument and amp. The 1/4" output is unaffected by the Element's tone shaping.

So...do the outputs from the Element allow you to send the XLR/Cabsim to a mixing board and the unaffected signal via 1/4" to an amp input simultaneously (essentially a THRU output)? I've never found a clear answer. The documentation on the DG website suggests that this is not possible.

I've been eager to see if it fits my needs, but it would need to have the XLR/Cabsim and THRU output functions working in concert.

The 1/4” through is always unaffected. Affected signal goes to XLR and 3.5mm outputs. 3.5mm & Bluetooth inputs only go to 3.5mm output.

Fantastic! I was hoping to shoot the XLR line to a mixer/PA and the 1/4" to my Micromark amp as a monitor.

That's exactly what I do. I still struggle to record bass without having an amp moving air. The Element allows me to record direct into my DAW without having to mess around with mics and I can still have my bass be heard and felt in the room.

I haven't had the Element for very long but I really like the flexibility it has for recording or for practice late at night with headphones.

What are people's favorite end-of-chain XLR out pedals? I think I need something with this capability, but I'm not sure what direction to go. Q-strip? Sansamp VT? something else?

Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver, Tech 21 Para Driver or Darkglass Element.

I'm still pretty new to the Element but it is super cool and very flexible. I love having headphones outs at the end of the chain for practice, too.

Been using the SansAmp DIs for years. They always work and they sound great. The Para Driver is definitely more versatile than the BDDI but the Bass Driver is tried and true in my rig.

Does the paradriver just have parametric mids?

Yes, just parametric mids. The Para Driver v2 has a "Rumble Filter" for attenuating sub frequencies and an "Air" button for opening up the treble response. Other than that, it has the basic Bass, Treble, Drive and Blend controls.

It's amazing how intuitive, yet interactive the controls are. You can pretty much dial in whatever you want.

thanks for this explanation. Seems like the para, vt, and q strip all have their upsides. Prob can’t go wrong with any. I have a new pork and pickle I’m going to try to trade.

Back to compact. Small Gator board with HX Stomp, TT2, and Khan. The Rolls is mounted to the iPad stand and the Stomp page turner is on its own and battery powered if needed at all.
