Here's my Davenbacker... from last years builds. It's a composite from measuring many Ricks, and choosing the shapes I liked most. Big differences- just one, dual acting truss rod, 34" scale, and treble pickup further back.
Flamed maple, and walnut.

And here's a $450 Ibby I bought new in 2018, don't own it anymore. But it had a gorgeous top

Although, as an old man who's still pretty skilless, may I offer up my position on this post...
Some of these basses are truly works of art... some are uglier than (insert your choice of epithet)
but I gotta bet that they're all pretty expensive.

Well worth posting for the green and blue babies IMO.

Thank you. They're not bad, especially for a Fender. But some of these high end basses that have been posted, the tops are absolutely gorgeous, and they should be for what those instruments cost. Exotic woods aren't cheap.

IMhO

Some undoubtedly are, but I know for a FACT that only one of the basses in post #10 cost more than $350 and even that one was less than $700.
