The Tbird pickup is not quite as prominent as I had hoped , but it sounds pretty good.

Sound is thick and meaty, with plenty of flavor.

I like the color combo a lot FWIW...

I’m finishing up a build for a friend. Mahogany body that I had sprayed with deep lake placid blue nitro w/ closet clean relic/age treatment, mint 3 ply guard that I made from scratch, sapele neck w/wenge fretboard from Freestone. Nitro over my decal in blue and silver to match the body, and tru oil on the rest of the neck. Ampturco harness using VIP pots and Hipshot hardware. Buyer wanted to try the affordable Chinese pickup. Fingers crossed that it sounds good.

On both that and the paisley, I have a '64 t-bird I absolutely love but they are delicate so I was looking to capture some of the tone in a more robust bass - plus I was going back and forth from the US/Europe a lot so these allowed pulling the neck and putting in a suitcase. On the Jazz, I thought I'd get closer to the inspiration's color as well.

I'm looking at getting a Maruszczyk; he does the P with TB pickups, but will also do a J. Just trying to settle on which green lol.

I have always loved the TB sounds...even when I wasn't a bass player. And a Jazz just feels right in the hands.

Here's exactly that - another attempt by Gibson to infiltrate the P players. This is an '87 Gibson IV. Mahogany P shaped body with set-neck (1 5/8" nut) in a profile intended to be a lateral move. It has a pair of first-year TB + pickups, VVT.
A P bass that sounds like a T-Bird! It didn't work out but it was a valiant effort...
