I know this model. I tried it a few weeks ago (a good friend of mine has just purchased one).
I was actually amazed by the general quality of setup and finish (except that I don't like the gold-ish plate that much), and this bass showed me it is able to offer a very wide variety of tones. The J-style neck is fabulous too.

Good catch, man.

Thanks! I paid a pretty penny for it though. But it was new and I really wanted a P bass, so I wasnt gonna let a deluxe edition pass me by. Indeed the sound is really awesome, the build quality is outstanding, I took it apart a couple of times to thoroughly clean it, and must admit they did a fine job on it. As far as the neck goes I couldnt be happier, its very thin and easy enough to play. I've learnt so much since I've bought this bass :)

*edit* I went to your website and saw the total price there. Quite an entertaining read, actually.

Here's mine. Precision Special (MIM) with upgrades:

Fender black pearl pickguard
Gotoh bridge
Basslines Hot P & Hot J pickups plus all new pots

I don't use it much since I bought my Thunderbird. It's a nice bass tho.

well, there's mine. It's a Squier P/j with a black pickguard (not obvious at all!) and an Essex fretless neck. The neck will soon be sanded down with a radius block (will help with the high spots) and then be epoxied with some help from a close luthier (the well known Hambone). I also plan on putting in Sd Bassline Quarter pounders, a BadAss II, an XL bridge cover (so I can play on the J pup) and some BML tuners from schaller. She should be one bad ass bass when I'm done with her.

In case you hate that pickguard, as I did, you can get chandler to make you a new one. It's the same as a MIM standard p pickguard, but with four holes, vice three.

I got a black one for that bass, and it kills.

The neck is All Parts, and there's a guy on Ebay that sells these bound and blocked necks with the decal already on them. You can see the decal lines, so it's not a perfect job, but I would have bought it anyway, since he charges about $50.00 less than anywhere else I could find for that neck.

Yea, another chance to show off the refinish job on my MIM P-Bass. Sorry...I'm just proud of the job I did on it. :smug:

In about a month I'll be getting a new Warmoth neck for it. I only paid $250 for this bass, and the new neck will only be $225. Next, I'm having the pickups and pots changed, and I'll add brass hardware.

It'll be better than a MIA, at half the cost of a new one. :D
