Oh I recently pulled out the BassPlayer with Pino Palladino on the cover to look at a transcription and saw your profile (with the '83 P?). Nice!

The 64 is real dark and thumpy. Huge bottom like I said a real deep dark tone, Sounds killer for R&B or blues.
The 75 is got a ton of sustain and has a awesome midrange growl. I like this one playing fingerstyle, Slap, 70's Funk.
The 83 is "The One" for recording I just plug her into a sansamp right into the board or mic up my B-15 and bam instant tone, It's just one of those basses that sits excellent in the mix. Nice even P Tone with a little more sizzle than the other two. Sounds Killer played with a pick.!
I love them all!
Actually I just score a old early 80's Ibanez Blazer (Pbass clone) for 170 bucks and it's in nice shape with the old stock Dimarzio P Pup in it. The bass sounds great I think it's a keeper.

I got it from a guy in Worcester who said he rescued it from a pawn shop in 1990! It's a great old beat up P bass and it weigh's 8 pounds it's the lightest bass I have ever picked up!

So sorry if this is off topic, and I'll delete it in a hurry if it is so deemed, but I have a question/request for input.

For our 15th wedding anniversary, my lovely wife gifted me with a American Deluxe J-bass. This bass quickly became my go-to. It sidelined my Modulus and my Cirrus in a hurry. Those two are FINE instruments too.

Lately, the phrase "Get a P bass!" has been circulating in my brain almost non-stop. My question: do I need a P-bass when I already have the killer J?

I was playing around with some American standard Ps and I just loved the ballsy thump and growl they had, but do I love 'em enough to want to start moving gear around... Damn GAS!
