I know I'm not the only one with a thumb rest bolted on the bass though I understand there are a few reasons (involving play style and technique) that facilitate the need or lack of one. I was using the center Bartolini as a rest for a while before I realized I had to make and attach the thumb rest pictured.
I was slowly pulling the pickup out toward the E and A strings resulting in vast volume and tone differences that became harder to fix between gigs. Simple solution was the thumb rest right?
I have a small inquiry as to why I see some rests on the other side of the strings, as if the player thumbs every note... Or is it a comfort thing?
Show me some thumb rests so I may steal your ideas for my other basses
