Here is one of me playing this past weekend. She looks so purty!!

As for the neck dive I do not think so but then again I do not own a corvette.

Do you need a special back to play a Thumb? Alot of people here who are selling their thumbs seem to be having problems with their back? I know about the neckdive, but in what way does it gets to your back/shoulder?

Because a NT Thumb weighs between 10 - 12 pounds and is somewhat unbalanced (neck dive) I think it conspires to make them a bit much when strapped. Perhaps they should have named the Truss bass instead of the Thumb bass.

Even my Corvette can be plenty at 8.3 pounds. I don't know how much a Fender weighs but it feels noticeably lighter to me. Because of a broken collar bone I rarely strap my bass anyhow so it is a moot point for me.

I think the corvette should get more street cred' than the thumb. i like the corvette more. i tried a thumb neckdive was too much, tried a corvette, hardly any.

Never owned a Thumb (only have played them in a store setting) but having previously owned a Corvette Standard I can say that I never had a neckdive or balance issue with the Corvette. Yes it was a heavier bass being made of bubinga but the balance was excellent. Kind of counteracted the effects of the weight. Plus the larger body and shape puts the first position a bit closer than the Thumb, assuming that you would wear the basses at a similar height.

Hey bluemonk, check my 2002 LTD earlier in this thread.
I love my Corvettes; both the LTD and the Rockbass Classic 5 FL.
These are 2/3 of my arsenal at the moment, and I'd gladly ditch the Godin Freeway 4 for a bubinga Corvette STD to fill the role of passive gig-pig ready-to-grab & go bass (a role that the Godin handles very well) when the time is right.

Here's my Warwick, a '91 Streamer Stage 1, bought new in '93 to be forever by my side, even if my Squier P (see it on page 91 of "the big -unlimited posts- party - show your basses") gets a lot more playing time. Seriously.
