My starry night is my number one for the past year. It has a character unlike any other Ray I've owned.
Replacing the stock pup with an Aguilar made all the difference. The string to string volume is even and balanced.
The neck feels so good and the ebony board is aesthetically pleasing.
I have no plans on ever parting with it.

Here is the little cocoon I had to play in in a a small bar the other night.

Just curious if, since this thread was started, anyone still has their Starry Night bass or if they've gotten rid of it?
Still have mine!

Interesting... I have considered changing out the pickup in mine. It sounds good, but not great! Looks and playability are there, but tone wise it is missing something. Of the Stingrays I have owned, it is probably the least aggressive, which may be great for some... myself... I like a little more bite.

Replacing the pick up gave it a little more girth or rounded tone. A tiny bit of the highest sizzle (the annoying part if you ask me) is smoothed out.
But the best part is that you can clearly hear the g string.
I did not install the Aguilar pre amp, just the pup. It does sound allot like you hear it on the Aguilar website.

Nice! I do notice the G lacking a bit. I have considered Aguilar & also Nordstrand.
