I will say this: Bass NW grades fairly, so if you did take the plunge (even before I get there heh) I doubt you would be dissatisfied. My issue more than anything else with later 70s Ps (and I have one) is that they are so inconsistent in quality. To charge big bucks because it's vintage is crazy. Anyone who knows about Fenders in the 70s knows you either got a good one or a bad one.

Yup! Both of the ones I looked at were good one's but I still don't think they're worth either of those prices.

A 70s P should be in that $1500 - $2500 range now give or take. Not over $3k. This is one of the many reasons I decided to have Rob build me the bass I got. If I'm going to drop some coin, why not get EXACTLY what I want and know it's going to be quality.

Very few builders will do things they way you want ...

I will be playing it tomorrow night on a gig in the Boston area, so if anyone wants details on that, let me know. Chances are I'll have the Deep 4 with me as well.

I did the gig on Saturday night with the RA P for the whole night except for one song which I used the Deep 4. My impressions haven't changed - I still really like it. I'm glad I went with the single coil vs. the humbucker as it is a different sound than my '78. Once the strings lose their newness it'll be a more interesting comparison (IMO), but with the LowEnd pre and the IP112, it just sounded great.

If I get a chance I'll record some clips comparing the '78 with the RA P through my '63 B-15NB.

My new Rob recently purchased from another TBer. I like it a lot so far - still getting used to playing fretless but I'm sucking less at it all the time...

I received my Mouse from Rob in January 2007 and have been meaning to post it ever since. It's a wonderful bass. Feels great in my hands, and sounds awesome... a very full and rich tone. Our church's sound technicians love the sound, so it is used A LOT in the mix. More so than any other bass that I've played. Rob was great to work with and the combination of the different woods in the bass works really well for me. I'm very pleased with Rob and his work.

In addition to the Mouse, I'm thinking of ordering a Deep 5. It's a big investment, so I'd like to play one for a few minutes before ordering one. I'm hoping there is someone in the Seattle area who owns a Deep 5 who would be willing to meet any let me try the bass for a few minutes. I'd be happy to bring the Mouse and return the favor. If anyone is interested, please PM me. Thanks.

Very nice Mouse 30. I almost think yours may have been cut from the same block as mine.
