Show us your 3 pickup basses!

FROM MR GOULD HIMSELF

G. Gould Music Awesome! Kind of a bolt- on version of my bass. Red narra top. Custom Bartolini pickups. Humbucker in bridge, split coil mid, single coil w/ hum canceller in neck. Just some kind of ordinary neck?

mr gould's personal bass and greatfull dead bassist both modulus, this is what my bass started out as i think

This is a parts bass I put together a few years ago but could never get the sounds I wanted out of it. One piece ash body, maple Mightymite neck. I've had DiMarrzios in there and some other Js with a variety of pres but nothing really worked for me. The pickup spacing is slightly wider than 70's Fender, so I struck upon the idea of sticking a P in the middle. I measured up and it was good to go. I was kind of thinking of refinishing after the butchery but I'm warming to the battered orange funk. All the pickups are EMGs and the pre is an EMG BTS unit. Controls are Vol-Blend-Bass-Treble - the neck J and P are going into a three way mini-toggle, just visible below the vol pot, and the output of that goes into the blend pot, so I can have all three pickups on independently or multiple combinations of all. This thing really plays very nicely, a lot better than the sum of the parts. Me like.

is this basic pickup setup doable passive? vol, blend, tone for bridge, tone for neck combo?

I am dying for a wiring diagram of something like this, I can't google fu it anywhere?

OP: Your basses ROCK!, esp the US Airforce bass, that one gives me GAS. I love it when people jump out of the box and do something creative!

The only 3 pickup bass I've tried was a Godin shifter, the original shift with the 3 single coils and loved it, just dont have the cash to buy one, and now they're discontinued so i'll have to save up and hope to get one used someday :(

Sold my P bass and now have another triple in the works. All the parts are on order but it will probably be 8 weeks before the body shows up.

P pickup will be in the standard position and each J will be an inch away from the nearest P coil.

Body and neck arrived today! Will post more here when it's all done.

Tell me I'm crazy...

I have this bass

and am considering replacing the pickups and preamp. I'm thinking about replacing the MM with a Nordstrand Big Man and the neck with a Big Single (with new routing of course). The preamp would be an Audere Classic 3-band.

This would technically be a 3-pickup bass since the Big Man is two Big Singles crammed into an MM shell.

Talk me out of it, please!

What do you get when you mix 20 pieces of pinus radiata, a truck load of titebond and a day in the workshop?

This:

There's an output jack hole on the rump. I plan to have a volume pot for each pickup. NO TONE.

And I'm not going to paint it. Just clear coat. When you have wood this hideous, you have to show it off.

I don't see anything hideous about it at all. Nice work!!!
