A ton of pre-planning. Two Warmoth alder jazz bodies and a small piece of alder was need to complete the sloped transition on the body. A great neighbor who has a killer wood shop. Two MIM necks purchased from eBay one lined fretless the other a lefty fretted neck. Ebay for most of the hardware. Two pairs of Lindy Fralin pickups. Sent it out for paint simply because I cannot paint to save my life. Another great friend who is a wiz with electronics wired it up for me. To be honest, the hardest part of this whole project was making the custom made pickguard from scratch. I have some images during the build process but they are too large to post on this site.

Thanks for the details. It's pretty close to what I was thinking, and I'm lucky enough to have a friend who has an amazing wood shop, and an electronics tech who is a genius.

Where did you need to use the extra piece of alder, and how did you get everything mated up and filled in smooth before the finish process?

I put the two unfinished bodies together (overlapped them) and for some reason the transition at the back tapered in the middle so another piece needed to be added to create the sloping look. Warmoth sells body blanks so I had to purchase it. There was a lot of waste in this build but the final results was well worth it. If you have access to a jazz bass just make a tracing of it times two then try to piece them together to get your desired results. I tried my best to find the images of the build but for some reason I lost them:(

Probably. I seem to remember one of the Timmy C. threads where someone mentioned him having a a doubleneck tune EADG and BEAD.

Then there's that doubleneck Derek Smalls played on "Big Bottom", which they probably put in that scene because having three guys on bass wasn't silly enough (at least I think it was two 4 strings, I don't remember it having tuners on the body for an 8 string neck)
