I bought a used Squier Jazz bass made in Korea with its serial number being S9+ 5 digits. From research i have done seems to be made in 1989 although in Fender's page says S9+6 digits and everywhere else is stated that every instrument with S9 serial number is made in 89 by Samick. Does anyone have more information?

Furthermore in the neck heel is stamped SAM but it is nearly wiped, so i am guessing that is another info that it is made by samick?

The bass itself was in very bad shape with rusty hardware and adhesive on body and a huge relief in the neck. The truss tod seems to work fine so more on that later! I will try to restore it to good looking and working condition and post more pictures! Does anybody have info about the pickups? Their sound?

Here they are. Seems to be it would be gorgeous with a tort pickguard, but I don't want to double my investment.

Since the controls and output jack of a traditional P-Bass are mounted in the pickguard, if you install one, it'll will need to be custom anyway since your bass was built without a pickguard.

Personally, if it was my bass and I wanted a pickguard on it, I'd design one, make a template and make my own pickguard. Blank material is available from a number of sources, but I usually get mine from Guitarfetish.com

You could always buy a cheap already completed one from Guitarfetish and modify it. Look on Craigslist or call small shops/pawnshops to see if anyone has any cheap ones locally.

Hi, I've a doubt about these pickups. They're from a Squier Korea PB S9 serial, resistance is 9.93k. Are they original?

I am being offered this bass in a trade, and I was wondering what the general consensus of quality is for this Korean made Squier p bass. I am told it is new and unplayed (from 1997). You can see the serial number is VN708220.

I have not seen anything in this color before, and the bridge looks very different from other basses I am seeing in a simple google search. (I have not seen any with that 'ashtray'.)

Good bass? Decent bass? Is there a way to tell by that serial number what the body wood/finish name is? Price is arbitrary, because it will be part of a multiple bass trade on both sides. Thanks for your help!
