Are they long enough for the 35" scale basses? That seemed to be an (important) unanswered question.
Also, what about the Mouse special short scale strings? Are those available anywhere besides Rob's shop?
As rare as the Mouse 30 is, that's a tall order to find them somewhere other than Rob's site.
Is the straw so that you can sip the contents and change the tone?
You discovered my secret! It is kinda like when Nigel Tufnel changes the tuning on the violin he uses to bow his Les Paul.

Hey Guys
Here is my Rob Allen Custom Mouse - Rob allowed me to visit his shop on one of my trips to Santa Barbara several years ago and pick out the wood myself. It features the drop D tuner and led's on the side of the fingerboard. I fell in love with the spalted and flamed maple top.

A bit late, but curious as to why you are (or were) selling the Mouse? I still keep looking at the Mouse on Rob's site and wonder. The ergonomics on my MB-2 are really close to the perfect. The way Rob builds these it just doesn't seem like other standard scale basses; in fact, the full length of an MB-2 and my Hofner Beatle Bass are the same. The Mouse looks a little small and I'm not sure I could give up the extra range and deal with the lack of the upper bout cutaway.
Also, I've gone through a number of preamp/DI pedals lately and have settled on the Baggs Venue for use with my Rob Allen. The mute and boost come in handy and the tuner works fine with the bass; it's very sensitive. It's really nice having two bands of flexible, tunable midrange and the notch filter actually helps with some boominess. Compared to a Fishman Platinum Bass EQ, the Venue has a cleaner more transparent sound. The Fishman does get a little lower in the bass range (and some more flexibility with the depth knob) but gets a bit lost in the mix. The Venue definitely is built like a tank and I prefer the knobs over Fishman's slider.

Not quite. I'm getting a new Deep 4 that reflects my new needs about 10 years on. So I can get rid of my old one ... I'm not getting rid of anything else (S4 or any of my Fenders) to get the Deep 4.
