Mooradian makes quality custom bags. They made one for my Deep 4 that looks and works great. Very durable.

That's correct, I sent dimensions. They also request a tracing, so I laid out a bunch of blank pieces of paper, taped them together, and ran a pencil around the outside of the bass to provide a precise image of the bass. I include a few photos to show elevations from the side to help them include enough space for the strings. Was a perfect fit.

I frequently use my Sadowsky gig bag (a very good one) for my Deep 5.
The body is very well stored in it.
The head is smaller than a JB, but just long anought to be saftly attached by the scratch.

(hope I am clear, not easy to translate in englih)

Thank you, I understand you perfectly. The MB 2 is so thin compared to the Deep; that is part of the problem with standard bags. Most standard basses are much "beefier" in the body as well as longer.

I love the Sadowsky portabag, it's my favorite;
but;
they're $225+$60 shipping, making it dang near a $300 bag.........................

Hey all, another prospective RA customer here; another electric guy seeking that elusive upright tone...sometimes descriptions in abstract tend not to work well for me, so to compare, how close do any of the RA basses (i'm interested in the deep 4) get to this tone:



seems like there are plenty of experienced RA players here so feel free to suggest which model (and what wood options, strings, etc) would get me closest to this...thanks!

(I know...I didn't shoot Rob an email yet but I plan to, I'm just seeking opinions from all ends)

Nice to see the old Deep getting good use :)

I still use a similar case which I got when Rob sold me that with my Deep 4 and when I gigged the Solid 4. Don't get me wrong - I do love hardshell cases but the gig bag is WELL padded that Rob had made. Too bad he no longer offers that as an option. I really only got it because the hardshell case wasn't an option yet. Funny how that worked out.

Funny thing - I've always been set and forget with both that Deep 4 and my newer one. Deep 4 --> amp. Done. I do have to alter things a bit depending on room or the people I'm playing with every now and then.

If I tweak EQ, it's on the amp or the Deep itself. I've never needed any additional gear. With the new one I can also switch output and go with either the mag or piezo, and that also has its own way of EQ since it's a similar, but different sound. I'll switch up sometimes but I tend to use the piezo more.

The second Deep 4 Rob built for me is so good I've pretty much stopped with bass wanderlust. Far and away it's my most used bass and people love the sound. I'm glad I had this one done because Rob really understood what I wanted after two basses and this one really is the refinement.

I'm satisfied with the LaBellas through the piezo, but the D string is very weak through the magnetic pickups my custom basses. I don't use the mags that much, but maybe I'll give them a try.

FYI, when I sold the bass to him it had the Rotosound RS88 set on there. All of my fretless basses over the years (except my P fretless now) have had that set. Rob even shipped the D4 I replaced the one I sold to Ukiah with the RS88 set; LaBellas never graced it.
