Dave, I have to see that Lake Placid Blue Jazz next time
I am in SA. I was gonna hook up with Carlos anyway,
probably March.

I just love that maple board, the blue with that pguard.

I was almost thinking about having my Geddy Lee
professionally refinished to that color, is that a MIJ?

PM'd you ... :D

From Part 1 (deleted pictures of a rack with an SVP and Mesa M-Pulse 600)

...Has the stock tubes in it now (a bit noisy) but a set of JJ's are on the way. We'll start there and see how things pan out. The SVP lined into the effect return of the Mpulse is out of this world....

You run a tube preamp into the effects loop of an amp with a tube preamp???

What does the Ampeg do that the front end of the Mesa cannot?

...Yes, you are a bit confused. I run the Ampeg into the effect RETURN of the Mesa, not in the loop. A toe tap on the Mesa effect loop footswitch and I A/B between the Mesa and the SVP Pro....

Actually, I meant effects return, but my big fat fingers went off on their own...

I thought that you were just using the Mesa's power amp and leaving the preamp unused. Now I understand much better...thanks! and

I don't have a proper picture yet; I went to the store with my car and stumbled upon the rig on the right in this catalog picture:

The cab is going to be shipped to another store in the chain, closer to home, and I will have to wait until a day with good weather after Christmas to get it with my truck. I played the head tonight at practice, and it was ridiculously loud for 300 solid state watts. I started under half volume, and kept turning it down until I could stand it. Really just one sound, and not the slightest bit clean. So now I have a tube amp that's my "clean" amp and a solid state "dirty" amp. Can't wait to hear it with the 4X15 up to rehearsal volume.

Is it just me, or are many of the rigs in this thread bigger than the ones in the "rigs of doom" thread? I guess doomliness comes in small packages, or something.
