Thanks! I don't know of any samples anywhere...one of these days I need to figure out and do some recording of my bass into the amp.

GBX amps were made in Canada in the early 70's.
Concept similar to Acoustic in that they utilized preamps and then you could add on powered speaker cabs until you reached your volume goal. IIRC they were 165 watts per module and came in 4x10, 4x12 and 2x15 speaker configurations. They also made a matching line of P.A. equipment that was pretty righteous for its time.

Your amp appears to be the single channel basic model preamp as I recall more tone controls including pre configured style setting knobs on the ones our band used. We had an endorsement from GBX around 1973 and had just about every thing they made. We did a factory tour and I think it was in Winnipeg, they played "Won't Get Fooled Again" through a massive P.A. stack off vinyl and blew our socks off with the volume attainable.

Some stocks were good to me, so I got to pretty much finish mine. Of course, there will still be things I GAS for, but this will do me for a long time I'm thinking. Can't wait to use it at the next show! Sounds nice to me so far, but only so much you can tell in your basement by yourself. Specifics of the components are in my sig... though nothing really imaginative here. :)

As for the empty space, I'm just gonna put one of those rack-space-filler-jobbies (I think that's the technical term), but cut a hole in it to put an XLR jack that will connect to the XLR-out on the back of the RBI. Kinda like a breakout box, so I don't have to go hunting behind the rig to hook up the cable going to the board (or more importantly, the sound guy doesn't have to).

Here's my recently acquired Walkabout Scout. It joins my original red faced Walkabout, so I expect to pick up another Scout cab in the near future. That way, I can go stack with one head, or I can run stereo, and still keep it under 100lbs. :hyper:

Oh, and that's my new Cafe Walter headphone amp sitting on top. A great little rig for plugging away without annoying She Who Must Not Be Disturbed While She Studies. :hiding:
