Great, although I've really grown to hate Ampeg....so I'll soon be selling them in search of a new cab. It'll most likely be a Mesa Boogie Powerhouse 1000 :thumb:. Although I've been digging those Eden 410XST specs. I'm also contemplating getting a 8x10.

does this make anyone else jelous? got the cab on monday, pretty good, P.A like, sterile, juts gonna get a hartke 2x10 to go with it next probably
why are people here posting pics of their full gk or eden or mesa rig saying, it aint much, but when they're like 2 quaddies, or a quad and a sub and a 400w+ head...man, id kill for a rig like that.,...man, id kill for a hartke ha3500 and a xl4.5...jesus, what does a rig have to be for you people to think its good, or big, or decent..i dont belive in a rack with 15 different things, a head or a seperate poweramp and preamp with 1 or 2 cabs is all i really want, then a envelope filter, wah pedal and tube overdrive....jesus, everything has to be big big to you people...

it does sound alright (its the kubicki that does it) but that head cost me $350aus and the cab cost $500aus, kubicki = $2000aus...that amp would probably cost about half as much as half the cabinets on here.....so to all you fodera playing, GK using people, feel lucky...very lucky..(bastards)
New rig (somewhat). My 400+ is sick, so I'm using the
Strategy with an Ashdown pre I got from a TB'er. Biamped,
using the SWR cab for the lows, it's mind boggling the lows
that lil cab puts out. Other cab is an ancient SVT that was
too cheap to pass up. The 8X8 sounded great full range
with the 400+ too, but I might have to sell it to pay for minor
things like food.

using the SWR cab for the lows, it's mind boggling the lows
that lil cab puts out. Other cab is an ancient SVT that was
too cheap to pass up. The 8X8 sounded great full range

i might could take that 8x8 off of your hands come early next year when i may be in need of a new cab.
The bass in the pic is a Mouradian, I don't know a lot about
them but there were not many made. I've heard they were
made in small numbers in Massachusetts in the US, and more
were made in Japan, but still not very many. I like strange
and pointy basses.

shipping may be painful. I pulled it out of my rig to take some
pics, and put in the cab I'll be substituting as a sub. It's an
Ampeg Isovent, 2 10s and 2 15s, pretty good stock but this
one has EV 15's and Eden 10's from old Mesa Boogie cabs.
The full range tone isn't as good as the 8X8, but it's great as
a sub.
Here's the rig as it stands for now, plus my poor ailing 400+
and the Peavey Classic 400 I changed the grill on to show the
tubes. I have too many amps I know... Tried to sell the
Peavey at one point, but got no serious offers, and I've got
~$300 in new tubes in it. Plus it's just so cool...

That bass was made by Jim Mouradian. He has his shop above Cambridge music in Cambridge, Mass, right outside of Boston. I just saw him last week. Very cool guy with lots of great stories. Actually he made one for Chris Squire around 1980 and Chris still uses it. Cool little bass. Give Jim a call and he'll tell you all about your bass.
finally, thanks to fealach I know that Ampeg cab. There's a band around here called zep zupiler, and the bass player has the same cab, I always wondered what exactly it was, because it sounds great.

Fealach - the Peavey looks way cool with the tweed! What does that bad boy sound like? What's the scoop on how crunch channel sounds?
Paddygil2 - The Peavey is an absolute beast. My band has to
play very loud to keep up with the drummer, who attacks his
drums with every ounce of his strength. At such stupidly loud
volumes, the Peavey tends to fuzz a bit, even on the clean channel.
I'd guess that's due to its "classic" design. It
sounds great, huge and evil. The crunch channel's distortion
sounds more like modern grit than vintage fuzz, but the clean's
distortion sounds old school. I would say it's power tube distortion,
because if I run my bass into an effect which
raises my signal level, then into the amp, I can go sick stupid loud
without distortion. But what fun is that? The footswitch allows
channel switching, blending the 2, and switching the effects loop on/off!
Every amp with a loop should do this, but
it seems a pretty rare feature for bass amps. Also has a Pre
amp out and power amp in. It'd look so cool on top of a
giant tweed cab...
The not so nice things about it: a retube just cost me $300,
and when I was trying to sell it nobody would pay $600 for
the amp and road case (I've been selling everything I could
since I joined the ranks of the Secret Society of Unemployed
Persons). It makes cabs cry for their mommies. It's rated at 400 watts
@ 4 Ohms, but tell that to the cabs. It seems like
it's MUCH higher. Someone told me it seemed as if the actual
output voltage of the signal coming out the speaker jacks
was higher than normal. The only cab that's been able to take all
it could dish out has been my Ampeg Isovent. With
the EV and Eden speakers I've put in it it's around 2400 watts.
It would probably be fine with a new monster 8X10, I've seen
some rated that high wattage.
It's also the size of a 2X10 cabinet and it weighs 100 lbs. But those
tubes are glorious, when I put the mesh grille on the
front I turned it on and turned the lights off so I could see
the glow of six preamp tubes and eight KT88's.
