there's plenty of bright in there;)

I've posted it here before, but I just can't resist posting again. I played it again New Years' Eve at a gig and just loved it:

Great basses on this thread, folks!!!

Here's my pride and joy...my DS'd Peavey T-45. I did the conversion back in '06, ended up selling it in June of '08, and just got her back this week.

This bass was one that I truly regretted selling. I'm sooooo happy to have it back. You'll have to pry her out of my hands when I'm dead.

Are the dark stars a strait swap (same size) as the original pick ups in the t-45?

It sounded better with the poles toward the bridge. I tried it both ways. Just a little tighter down low. Yours is very nice though!

I sold that bass in August, enabling me to swing the Mesa M9. It was a great bass but just couldn't get past the Sadowskys and Reverends and into the gigging lineup.

I'm gonna darkstar my Ibanez Artcore - question one or two DS's????
Whoa, there's a name and AV I haven't seen in quite a while! Good to see you around, FF.

As a big DS fan, I would typically say more is better.;) But IIRC, a single DS is a fairly easy mod on the Artcore (perhaps a straight drop-in?). And the DS is very high output, so one can be great. Do the easy single, then add another if you feel the need--that's what I would do.

Hey Greg - hows it goin man? Yeah back after a looonnng, sabbatical with long range precision rifles!

One DS it is then.

No I didn't order yet, but I'm a patient dude, this bass has been waiting for its DS for 3 years now.

There's a word that Fred has disappeared and is apparently out of business. Is that true??? I was just about to start a DS project...

I've been wondering too - he uncharacteristically never got back to me after an email 4 months ago. I currently have one Ds'ed DeArmond Starfire & one stock DeArmond Starfire with a loose Dark Star ready to install (but no ring surround :-(

Since I'm selling the stock SF with the loose DS, I keep getting requests to sell the pup alone (which I won't do) - I've been offered over $350 for it - if Fred has left, he should definitely go back into biz!

On another note , I hope he's OK - we've had sporadic correspondence over the last 10 years & he's a fine fellow!
