The 5 on the P and 7 on the J indicate neck size rather than the day of the month.

What I do know is that those numbers (5 and 7) are always the ones that appear on P and J necks respectively. And when I say always I mean the ones from that era.

I've never heard it played. But this one of mine sounds great. A little more wooly than my Club with staple pickup and non-cavern spacing.

Very cool. I've been thinking for a while about adding a third pickup to my VVT modded Ignition Club to get the Cavern spacing.

The 5 and 7 are model numbers. It gets further confused as some changed later in the 60's. But you are correct, they are not the dates.
