Ugh....you are correct. I haven’t learned my lessons about posting too soon after I wake up.
What I do know is that those numbers (5 and 7) are always the ones that appear on P and J necks respectively. And when I say always I mean the ones from that era.

The 5 and 7 are model numbers. It gets further confused as some changed later in the 60's. But you are correct, they are not the dates.
