My second bass was a used VOX Cougar short-scale exactly like this example. It's why I bought the Conrad - much more affordable than a late '60s vintage VOX.

I took that pic of the gold G&L - it belongs to a friend who is a total G&L guy and basically turned me on to them years ago. He bought it about 5 years ago from a guy in Texas and had it Plek'd. It's an awesome looking and sounding gee-tar. :bassist:

Lucky you! That type of checking is one of the things that really has drawn me to gold tops.

What's cool is that the gold starts to turn green from oxidation where one interfaces/sweats on it. He has a few really cool '80s G&L guitars and an early '80s L-1000 bass. That one has the best wear though.

I don't, but it has little wear on it. It is black and it has the early hs style that the recent RI has. (rounded - no 'peak') I've played it - it sounds good and I liked it ok, but it didn't speak to me. I did like that G&L came out with their RI's because they are pretty authentic. I'll ask my friend to send me a couple pics of it.

Body and neck belong to each other (mid 68) and the pickup (69) came from a Facebook Tele bass head. Oval tuners came off an earlier 68 I had a couple of years back. It’s so well seasoned and dry that I’m pretty sure it beats Nigel Tufnell’s favourite axe for sustain.

LOL...I think I've been following that one around on FB and posted a pic of it a page or two ago I'm pretty sure. It's super cool!
