‘77 Univox Hi-Flier Phase 4 & ‘78 Gibson Ripper
View attachment 4737309
I got lucky with this one, someone scratched “Board of Ed 1977” on the back of the headstock so I just assume that’s the year it was made. Also I believe the phase 4 was 77/78 the last run of them. I’d say the best way to pin a date would be by what phase model it isI just happened upon a Hi-Flyer (I know, I know...pics later). Is there any way to date it from the serial number? It looks just like yours but without the bridge cover...
Also, assuming the pots are original, you can get a ballpark year by checking the date code on them, at least within a year or two.I got lucky with this one, someone scratched “Board of Ed 1977” on the back of the headstock so I just assume that’s the year it was made. Jens Becker Grave Digger metal bassist?
I have no idea??? But I want to know too!! I just steal stuff from FB bass groups I'm in and he didn't post any info. Parts look "familiar" like the control plate, peg head and stuff...sort of "Shergoldamajigomandodealie". I don't know. Maybe resident pros @Dynacord or @JIO will solve the mystery. It's old and has teeny pearl tuners but I can't make out the faded logo.![]()
Please, please, please tell me what is that bass?
Pleeeeeeease.
There’s a thread about it here on TB somewhere, the owner did a restoration I thinkLooks like I'm going to bed stymied until tomorrow.
