SHOW YOUR DISTRESSED FINISHES!

distressed...

It looks great ! That is the best AC/DC tribute band I've ever heard. If it wasn't for the rhythm guitar track being a little louder that usual so I could hear that riff at the end of each line of the verse made me wonder, or else I would've thought they were AC/DC.

Maybe Thunderstruck would've been more accurate. :)

Got this body in sad shape. Neck pocket was all gouged out unevenly to try to fit a wider neck I guess. Paint was equally hacked at with inappropriate tools.

I made a new neck for it from scratch. Made it a medium scale. Added the lipstick pickup and the switches.

Plays nice now. sounds good. Looks cool to me.

Wow! That's awesome! Good job all the way around! Where do you source multi-lam wood like that? So cool! That there is right up my alley! I've got and have made medium-scale basses and dig them. I bet it sounds great with the lipstick pu and the switches are a nice touch. And the Teisco Del Rey style hs and side fb markers are great! Thanks for posting!

Here's a bass (full scale) I made from a mid-'60s ss mahogany Del Rey body and an Epi Goth neck - it's my gigging bass.

The wood is 1/2" Baltic birch plywood laminated together to make the neck blank. It has been really stable. Finished it up about a year ago and hasn't needed any adjustment since.
Switches are series/parallel, and two tone caps. Can switch either one on, or both on at once and still use the tone knob on top of that. Different cap values for all three.

More pics.

Yeah teisco delray and zim gar is where the headstock inspiration comes from. I decided to go with four in line tuners instead of the 2+2 on the original.

Looking back now I think I prefer the original 2+2. It's a little bit more of a wacky out there kind of design which is what I was going for. Still like the way mine came out though.

I think the fret markers on your teiscobird stand out better against the dark fretboard. I think mine might have worked better if I had done them in Black or tinted the lacquer a little bit darker amber, but again it still works as is

That neck/board is seriously cool.

From eBay - no affiliation. Im guessing it's a "heavy relic"-job, and actually a pretty good one at that. Advertised as a 1990 USA Fender P. Maybe it started it's life as that, but the neck plate sez'; "Freedom Custom Guitar Research - Tokyo Japan"

CONDITION

Neck is fine.
Truss rod works fine.
The guitar may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but is fully operational and functions as intended.
Please understand that this is a vintage item.
Ready to play when you get.

yikes! someone has acid for sweat! (tug-bar) :cautious: And a missing screw - that is distressing!

Even if it is a 1990 Fender neck - decal is bogus (too small)... and also probably not a FCS, or that would be a selling point. They should have just labeled it Freedom Custom Guitar Research. or FCGR.
