cool '60s Hofner - love that shade of blue and "croc-skin' texture! So many nice details - such a pretty bass.

Vintage 1960s Hofner 185 Artist Super Solid Purple Custom Electric Bass Guitar
I recently acquired this from the north of England, where it had been for many years. The original owner was a German National who’d emigrated to Scotland with this guitar many decades ago. He’d been in bands around Germany for many years, and kept this with him when he packed it all in.
Originally white Croc skin in colour, the front was painted purple to match the rest of the band, and the back painted black including the neck. The original machine heads were replaced for better quality Schaller’s, and now hold tune incredibly well. Both pickups needed repair when I got it, as it had been stored for some time, but now it has a really punchy sound to it - like you wouldn’t believe!
Cosmetically in good condition with only a few small scuffs to it, nothing significant. It even has the original raised Hofner logo attached. This is a really nice and rare bass guitar. Grab a beauty.
Not what I'd consider a 'neat' job of replacing tuners...

but it looks brand new! 
So much to like! (organ pu toggles, articulated mute, ashtray string-stop) I resurrected the guitar version for my bands guitarist. I started with a body only, found an '80s Harmony neck and original '60s tremolo-bridge for it. After stripping the red & black finish off (it had already been DIY messed with) - I liked the way it looked so left it that way. He uses it for certain songs and it sounds great! I also own a couple of mid-'60s Teisco Del Rey SS's. I always liked the way they looked and saw a local bass-player playing one through an SVT fridge. It sounded huge! I went home and scanned eBay and found a nice example. I bought it and it's a great sounding, fun playing bass! Back when these were new (before SVT's!) they were mostly played though small amps and probably sounded good, but they are more than capable of massive tone-age through a nice big rig!
