Now the Fender has adopted the original 'spaghetti' logo on all their new basses - it's become 'common' looking. I like the bolder logo's better - always have.

Especially with 'motion-marks'!

Relic'ing is relatively new to guitars The process/technique has been around for decades in Decorative Arts (furniture, picture frames, statues, interiors) and when done well is very valuable.

Words of wisdom JIO, so true.

I have an old violin that has been in my family almost a hundred years. It was gifted to me by my mother’s sister long ago. When the bottom fell out of the music biz spring of 2020, with all my new free time I pulled that violin off the wall from my music room and contemplated playing it. I marched it down to our local luthier for a complete set up. He informed me it is a relic copy of an even older German violin, and the day it was sold new looked old. I had no idea. Been playing the thing most days since. A bit of a silver lining to it all.

Yah, the techniques incorporated are very much 'old world'/European. There's an amazing old theater here in SF called The Great American Music Hall that was built in 1907 after the '06 earthquake/fire. It's off-the-charts Rococo. The towering (wooden?) columns are painted faux marble and even upon close inspection - they look like marble. Had to be European artisans who did them - they are totally convincing.

Seen lot's of music there over the years - my favorite place to hear music in SF. I'm going there a week from today to see/hear Tortoise.

Apparently tb views it as a 'privilage' to Gold Supporting Members (as I am) ... I don't agree with it, I just suspect it's their incentive to have members support more monetarily. It's the way this internet stuff seams to work. The more you support monetarily, the more access you get.

Enjoy it! I've done similar 'relic'd' finishes with a thin lacquer coating deliberately aimed at eventual player-wear.

I recall that tragedy - glad it wasn't yours. I believe they were posted here when it happened - luckily no-one was hurt.
