I think the "Road Worn" series (including that Flee-inspired J) of basses Fender produced were some of their best. I don't own one but I played one that I considered buying (I already have a few killer J's) and it felt/played/sounded great. And yes - the PV64 pu's are awesome. I'm doing a custom build currently that will have them.

Very cool. Yeah those pickups are amazing, makes this bass sound almost like it has a preamp.

I’ve played a few and loved the feel of the necks. In fact, I have a AO precision that’s getting a road worn J neck. Should have it back later today.

I'm very suspect of that his being from 1954...

First off, this "real player worn" finish doesn't pass the sniff-test and bridge looks new.

Next, this doesn't look right; sharp (left) edge, no router 'bump'...

Looks sanded/rubbed and buffed-out ~

Yep, the finish is definitely not original.
