I've always toyed playing with a pick, but The Bond/'60s spy material first got me into playing w/a pick & palm-muting seriously, as many of the bass-lines were originally recorded like that. Carol Kaye played bass on some of those famous songs like "Mission : Impossible", which we play.
While searching for other spy related songs Carol Kaye played on, I saw that she played on the 1967 LP (that I had back then!) called "The Zodiac - Cosmic Sounds". I wasn't aware of Carol Kaye as a young teen but I remember really liking parts of it so I found a VGC copy on eBay and ordered it! Elektra produced many of the LP's I bought back then. If I remember correctly, this LP was a 'cut-out' sold at my local grocery store for 99cents. It's where I also bought Pink Floyds "Piper at the Gates of Dawn". This was in Omaha Nebraska, and most people had never heard of PF including me. I just thought the cover art was cool.
