OMG.....sick Callowhill!!! I long for one of those babies. Yours is a beauty.

My best guess is that because it was a prototype, the bridge may have been a bit off, and Herbies tech moved it closer to keep the saddles closer to the "middle of their travel" when intonated.

Either that, or they wanted the silks over the saddles, for tone, or so the threaded saddles don't cut into the black tape, as them strings are easy to damage.
