Thanks! The price of koa has shot up. There's a dinky J koa body for sale at Warmoth for $750. That's about 3 times what I paid for mine just a few years ago.

Thanks Woody. I don't have good pics of the back, it's just as nice. Koa neck and birdseye fretboard. It definitely is a keeper.
Your Carvins are great as well, just cannot be beat for the price!

Here's mine, a 2008 Martin Keith bass. Specs if anyone's curious: figured koa top, black accent lines, chambered mahogany body, unlined maccassar ebony fingerboard, piezo, Citron humbuckers (not pictured here).

It has a set neck made entirely of Koa (minus fretboard) as well. My brother bought it new back around 85 or 86. It was very cheap because Carvin considered these single pup basses more of a "student" model.

The before and after. Only the body side wing tops are Koa, the core is Wenge and the back is Zebrawood.
