Mesa M9 Carbine into a Mesa Powerhouse 2x10 (600 watt @ 4 Ohms)
On top is a Yamaha BB424X strung with Rotosound Swing 66 (.105 - .045) strings. Out of sight is my Boss tuner pedal into MXR-M88 octave, into MXR bass envelope filter pedal. A loud, fat, tight, funky rig....
It depends on the gig. I mostly play loud rock/rockabilly gigs, so my needs vary, but usually my setup centers around fighting feedback but trying to sound good. Hard to get a MBOL tone in a lot of these settings (for me), but I’m still learning.
I took this pic when I got to open up for David Alan Coe a couple years ago. King Doublebass Roadking that I refinished with a Shadow bridge pickup into a Line6 G30 wireless. I only used one channel on the Rane AP-13 to feed the Crest Prolite 2.0 into my Greenboy Audio Fearless F212. Evah Pirazzi Slap (full synthetic) strings.
This is pretty much my favorite “loud” setup, but I recently got a Grace Designs BiX, and I’ve been experimenting with adding a mic as well.
I also will use the BiX in the effects loop of my Orange Terror Bass 1000 for a nice smaller amp setup.
I don’t like to take my ‘53 Kay C-1 to dive bars because drunk people.

Here's my new rig that I used last Wednesday, sorry about the poor photo. It consists of my trusty Puma 500 on top of a pair of stacked Genzler 10-2 Array cabs. FDeckHPF looks after the lows. I had to do a bit of work with the eq to overcome 'carpet drag', not yet apparent in the photo. Very promising rig, I've already tried a single cab on a smaller gig and the clarity was quite something.
Been experimenting tube amps all year. Ampeg's current PF-50T is about as practical of a tube head as one is likely to find. It fits very neatly atop my trusty old Acme Low B-1.
It took me a while to dial it in. I finally returned to my Biesele magnetic pickup and blending unit on my old Kay. That sounds good through just about anything. The above pictured rig in an intimate Jazz trio setting made it sound fabulous.
Here's a doubling configuration I set up for a church gig. Made for a good group shot of my toys (ahem: tools) but if I'm being honest, it didn't actually work that great. (IME this amp is very fussy about which cab you try to use for which volume level and it has not been very cooperative as of yet when I need to approximate a more "modern" sound.)

Thanks! If I could afford it, I would’ve gotten a Greenboy F112 & a F115, but as a one cab solution the F212 is hard to beat.That's a serious rig @Hoyt (y)

This rig just had it's maiden voyage tonight. OMG, I don't think I've ever been happier with my sound. My playing, on the other hand... BTW both items were purchased from the classifieds here. Yah!

It's a 45.5. I've used the cab in several different rooms with two different heads. It hasn't disappointed yet. And it is way less directional than my Markbass cube. I don't have to find a sweet spot and stay there, which is great.
