This is mopre than likely what will happen. This cab is just finicky on what drivers are loaded in it. And yeah, beater 2-15" > new speaker cost

You could DL a copy of WinISD and punch in the PV dimensions and port size and use the numbers as a reference to check speaker specs to see if you can find an inexpensive speaker that would perform decently in that cab.

Honestly IMO those SUNN and Yamaha cabinets are one of the best designed 215 cabinets ever. I've played through those off and on over the years And they always deliver. You can toss almost any speaker in those cabinets and they sound good.

13 bucks!! Deal of the century!

I certainly was pleased. It was at a music-go-round on clearance and I traded a junky old casio I paid $3 for and $10 out of pocket. It's loaded with some weird eminence speaker that's not original. But it holds its own in smaller gig situations.
"instagramminess." I kinda like the "instagramminess" :)
It certainly serves to sexify whatever the photo is of...

That is my experience as well. Eventually, I"ll build a lighter version of that cab. I had my 3015LF's in the Yamaha cab and it sounded so beastly. I agree, really good design. The 2-15" cab that I judge all others by.

I'm kinda lazy so push comes to shove, I'll bust out the WinISD. I thought someone on here may have direct experience with replacements. Thanks for all the tips thus far! :bassist:

I bought this just to see if I really wanted to go back to 215's. After playing it for one rehearsal, I was told never to return with the 10's.

I immediately sold it to a stoner/doom guitar player that all but it peed himself when he came to pick it up. I then went to Mark at BNA Audio and asked him to build me a Dually. I wanted something that I could use to kill the grass, with both warmth and clarity.

Here's my new baby. It's running the Faital Pro 15PR400's. I have about 6 rehearsals on this now, and the honeymoon continues! I think I am going to get a tat that says, "15's For Life!"

I begged Mark to build me a second one. He refused saying that I am not qualified to have that kind of power, and besides, it's illegal in 7 states.

Rock on oh bass brothers & sisters of massive air movement!

I absolutely love it. An amazing head with tons of warmth at half the weight of the full tube monsters. 45 pounds, as I recall. 15-20 pounds less than the Dually.

Right now, we are on the outs however, as it went in to protect the other night for no reason. Wasn't even pushing and the head was barely warm to the touch. I could not find a single post regarding this issue. It's packed up and headed to the mother land for repair or replacement.

And yes, it will still be my go-to.

Come on now, John! I simply pointed out that with greater power comes greater responsibility. Noblesse oblige, baby!
