there's definitely no loss of top end with JBL's.

it's a '71 p bass with the new fender 9050SL's (.040-.100), and the bass line is hendrix's manic depression.
That's what it was!
For some reason I was thinking "Whipping Post" but it didn't seem quite right.
My mistake.
I'm running a 2x12 now and I like it a lot. Much better than a 4x10 I used to have. I'm considering going the 2x15 or double 1x15 route though. Something about a 15 that sounds really good especially with a Low B string.

IMO, 15's sound great on all of the other strings too.

It seems like vintage guys really dig 15's. My basses are more modern: 5 string and usually active electronics. Just wanting to make sure it'd work for what I want.
Also, I would think 2 15's would be louder as well?

IMO, vintage has nothing to do with it. great tone has always been great tone. i used to play thru two complete dual showmans (w/four 15" JBL's) in '72 and IMO, my tone was as good or better than any of my modern gear is today.

fEARfuls...15/6+15/sub. I'm running them with a Peavey IPR-3000 in bridged mono setting for 3Kw at 4 ohms and a high voltage all tube Kern preamp.
Not your mommy and daddy's 15" speaker setup from the 1970s!
