Dont know so much about it but it was bought back in 87 i think. Assembled in korea :( but plays really well. Got for slap stuff

Well after years of playing with Spector and Fender basses I thought I would finally give the Modulus Flea a try.

When I was younger and started playing bass I used to dream of owning my favourite bassist's gear...That dream faded quickly when I saw the price tag. Kinda hard for a student to dish out a couple thousand Euros for an instrument. Anyway, fast forward 9 years later and the dream came to life.

I tried and bought a first one (2004 model) and loved it so much that I just bought a second one (2002).
Nine years ago I just wanted to look and sound like my idol but now that I've actually played and own two I can say that I've found an instrument that perfectly fits my tiny hands and fragile back :)
Oh and I really don't give a crap if it's a Flea signature instrument or not; it's just an awesome bass for a reasonable *used* price ($1545 for the 04 and $1300 for the 02, and thank god for the favourable USD->EUR exchange rate :D).

Whoa...does the silver one happen to have a scratch on the inside of the lower horn near the guard (stupid ass singer and a mic stand), or holes drilled in the plate of the bridge? That's identical to my former one....as a matter of fact, the one in my avatar. When I sold it, it had the same case, pickguards, and was an 02 as well.

I sold it on the bay starting at a buck with no reserve....which I normally do well with. It sold for a grand on the nose, which I am still pretty aggravated about.

You know I sort of agree with you about Flea, but have you seen the night school DVD with Stanley Clarke, Flea does a really nice jazzy fingerstyle solo, it really changed my opinion of him.

Anyway, here's my Modulus Q6, you've probably seen it before, it was in the for sale section recently being sold by Eublet.

Now after a journey of some 4500 miles or so it's mine.

I can honestly say that it's probably the best bass that I've owned or played, I've owned Wals, status's, Sei's, Alembics. But this is so responsive to how you play.

It has a John East pre fitted to it, which really makes the bass sound how I wanted, I'm a big fan of Steve Lawson, so I've been getting busy with some Lawsonesque doodlings.

One other thing I love is the stability of the neck, I like a nice low action, but the cold, damp weather in this country means that you have to compromise a bit with a wooden neck bass.

So you ended up with that Q6, huh? ;)
Simply amazing that one is. My fretless Q6 (when I get it) will probably look similar to that. One of my favorites to be sure!

None of my 3 have the adjustment rod (technicall not a "truss rod", according to Modulus! ;)), and the only one I wish did was my 1996 fretless Q5. My other two are straight as can be and I've adjusted the action to perfection with just the saddle heights.

I should have another build update on my custom velvet blue over red Q5 this month!! :)

Great axes guys. Love me some Moduli!! :hyper::hyper:

I ordered this new in 1988 (took delivery in January '89), a Quantum-6 SPX.
Alder body with cocobola top, 35" scale bolt-on graphite neck with phenolic fingerboard, EMG J pickups, EMG BTC tone control, Kahler bridge, Gotoh machines, Dunlop StrapLocks.

I was very impressed with Flea on that dvd! He did a good job of keeping up with the "heavyweights" like Stuart Hamm, Armand Sabal Lecco, Bunny Brunel, Stanley himself...good stuff!

I have just finished returning my 1982 fretless bassstar to as close to original as I could. I had routed the bridge PU for a musicman pickup so I mad a big ring to cover the hole. Bartolini PJ with a Bartolini TC3 preamp for 4db gainboost. Bolt on on a redesigned 74 pbass body.

Yep, that's it. All the same dings in the body as I sold it. That one has a paper thin finish on it for some reason, breathe too hard and it chips off.

I'd be happy to give ya the grand I got out of it for it back ;)
