I got my lightly used 93 thunderbolt for $800 on clearance at GC, it was originally marked at $1600. The original price is fairly high for a used pedulla i would think (ie you could get one on ebay cheaper) but if its used/floor model you can probably work something.

that being said, i can't believe i hadn't posted in this thread yet...

His work really has no equal that I've ever seen, and the price, while expensive ($350 plus $25 for the patterns) is less than most high-quality "one-size-fits-all" leather bags out there. If you love your Pedulla as much as I do, and need a gig bag, I think it's a pretty good way to go.

Now that he has the patterns done, you could probably get one for a Thunderbass or Thunderbolt without the charge for the pattern. Due to health reasons, Glenn took a little while to get to mine, but once he got to it, it takes him about 3 weeks to fill an order.

Just picked up a real odd duck. It's stamped EMS on the headstock, but it really looks like an Interceptor (and says so on the warranty card that was still in the case) with walnut body wings and neck laminate. Not only that but it has three pickups (PJJ!!!), individual volumes, no tone control and a Bartolini EZQ preamp. The awful GC pic is below.

Seems like between 1975 and the late 80s Pedulla made lots of changes!!! As Christine told me over the phone records weren't really kept until the late 80s.

The very earliest instruments are badged Pedulla-Orsini. Most of the pre-1980 models had Sperzel tuners and Badass I bridges rather than Badass II.

The 1980 catalog lists all instruments with Dimarzios, Grovers, Badass II bridges and a gain only preamp (Bartolini?). While visiting a dealer in 1981 I almost sprung for a brand new Buzz with Barts, Grovers and Badass and EL (4-knob) rather than EMS (3-knob) style electronics. By 1984 it was Barts, Schaller tuners and bridge.

The original body shape was a symmetrical dual-cutaway, the EL bass was the first to have the current MVP type shape. The ELs came with dual P pickups but I've seen ones with the bridge PU reversed and others the opposite :help: DiMarzio equipped models had coil tap miniswitches along with phase reverse miniswitches, early Bartolini models had only the reverse switch. The 1980 catalog shows the cheaper EMS and Buzz (both JJ) models with the older body shape and rosewood boards.

By 1984 all basses had the new body shape, the EL had been replaced by the MVP (all maple) and the EMS by the Interceptor (maple and walnut). The Buzz was now built to MVP specs and the fingerboard upgraded to ebony on all models. The LED for the preamp arrived sometime between 81 and 84 and the phase switch was gone. PJ was now offered alongside JJ.

The 1990 catalog shows Schaller on all but the MVP6 (ABM bridge, Schaller tuners) and the Series II bolt-on (all Gotoh hardware) and no switches or LEDs. The Thunderbass arrived after the 1990 catalogs were printed and soon everything had ABM bridges and Gotoh tuners.

Guitars were available from 1975 until sometime in the 80s (they are still shown on a 1984 price list). By 1990 it was basses only. All guitars had the original dual-cut body shape.
