Thanks for the comments. nellie is indeed a pedigree Staffie and just the best thing ever. To quote the 'Dog book' - "A kinetic mass of muscle and bone" ;0)

I do not know about breed testing in the UK but I don't think many pitbulls remain, it is illegal to own or sell a pitbull and we only hear about them in the news sporadically. I don't personally believe that the dogs are ever at fault, but hey ho.

It is funny how people react to Staffies - I have always lived with Labradors (alongside humans of course) but I find people react to staffies very differently. They either LOVE them to bits and seem to know what they are like down to the ground (Staffies think they are people, literally) or they are cautious and edgy, which gets me quite frustrated.

Do they do genetic testing in the UK to determine bloodlines?? What's legal, whats not?? :eyebrow:

I think it came about when a series of people including children were fataly attacked by pit bulls. Our wise and protective :hmm: nanny state government saw fit to ban the possession of or sale of 5 types of fighting dogs including pit bulls. I do not know the other breeds.

Now Staffies like the one in the picture I love and so do my two pyreneans who take every opportunity to play with these playful bundles of fun.

Regards

Matthew

My 1 1/2 year old lab/greyhoud mix Maya. Got her about a month ago. Although she's really busy, she's got the greyhound endurance: run like crazy for a minute or two, then sleep for several long hours.

Going to be a loving dog when she settles down.
