Apparently they poop when they are on the move and active.

We adopted her off of craigslist this past week. A young lady was afraid that she couldn't keep her apartment warm enough for Lola.

We (my wife) did a lot of research just to make sure we could care for her. We have a lot of rescues and we always make sure we can handle it.

I think they make really interesting and sweet pets. I think the initial investment is a little shocking but buy from a reputable breeder or adopt from someone that has taken good care of their pet.

I just woke up from a nap and Lola was on my chest the whole time. When she is out of her cage we have a drawstring bag that we keep the opening folded down and she nestles inside of. I think it gives her a bit of security. Anyway she napped in the bag with me (my wife put her there).

Lola lives in a Hamster style cage and we have a heating pad draped over one side for extra heat. Don't let them get below 70 degrees.

She leaves on a loose particle substrate called Invalid Link Removed. We've also seen them on sheets of fleece cut to fit the bottom of the cage which is probably what we will move to. You just have multiple sheets and switch them out for washing.

Like any animal they poop and pee but I don't detect any odors. For exercise we have a silent spinning wheel for her. She used it and pooped on it so we had to wash it. This little guys apparently only poop when they are exercising. At least we new she was using it.

They eat cat food and you can give them certain bugs for a treat. We have a colony of blaptica dubias (keep an open mind) that keep as feeders for several other exotic pets (Leopeard Geckos, Chilean Rose Tarantula, Emperor Scorpion, White's Tree Frog and Pacman Frog). She can eat the small doobies. Do some research as I'm sure some bugs might not be good for them. I think they can have Meal Worms, Super Worms and Phoenix worms. I hate crickets,...they are noisy and stink.

You can handle them,...their quills aren't barbed so they don't hurt. Lola wasn't handled much by her previous owner so we are trying to get her used to being out and being handled. If you mess with her too much though she gets defensive and grumpy. But once she calms down she is fine.

Our three cats don't know what to make of her,...they sniffed her and got poked in the nose so they pretty much just leave her alone. They watch when she is feeding in her cage.

Forums are a good place for information (for any exotic pets really).
