I can't get my basses to get beat up besides buckle rash, cursed cheap paint should come off easier!
There are a few of us here that are older punk, count myself among them.
Funny about the cheap paint. It takes a beating and doesn't show, but the high end stuff is super fragile.
Yeah, I have a yamaha that's probably older than me. and all dings it has is some bucklescratches and a ding near the jack... Polyfinishes sure do last...
Those 4 holes are for attatching the spring metal/felt mutes that came on the earliest years of Jazz basses. Then in '64 they switched to the black foam mute under the chrome ashtray cover.
THose are all great. I'm in the process of doing up a white/tort one like the one on the left. I didn't like fiesta red, but having seen some faded ones, that is a great look too. If I can justify another J after this one, it will be like the one on the right.The one on the right is killing me!!!! I can't do another jazz bass.....

That's actually not a bad price, but for the condition. I saw a refin 64 sell for 6k recently, and when I was in hollywood last year, GC had a couple white 62s (cleaner though) for 15-18K.

guys.. nash is awesome, he makes instruments that have soul.. i assure you they are "reliced" but they are not fake...
i,ve tried a real 52 pbass in hollywood... and i wasn't shy a bit about my nash for the resonance and the feeling of the neck and everything...

i've played it with the pick-up cover.. really cool but you have more tonal option without it.. imo

There's a few old punks kicking around this place.
Give it time. Play it enough and the paint will wear thin.
Keep in mind, it took over 40 years for that one to get that worn.

You cant tell it really well here but the Reggie Hamilton Custom Shop I bought brand new, Ive played it soooo much in the few short years since i got it and it looks like a naturall reliced 60's bass. Almost every venue Ive played someone has come up to ask where i found a 60's 5 string, which they did make but not like this. It truely has been the best bass Ive ever played, since i got it ive gone through countless boutique basses (good to have friends at the Atlanta bass gallery) but never wound up keeping any of them because of amber. The 59 is new an fabulous, 5 hours old and i cant put her dowm. Left to right Jacolynn, Marilyn, Amber, and Lily.
